The all-in-one tool to move a Final Cut Pro X Event or Project to Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, FCP 7 and beyond! This app translates Final Cut Pro X Library XML (fcpxml) and converts it for import into Adobe's Creative Cloud apps, Premiere Pro CS6, Final Cut Pro 6 or 7, or other applications. Your Final Cut Pro XML is ready for: • Premiere Pro, and then to: - AAF to Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools - OMF output for ProTools, etc. - EDL • After Effects • Audition • Final Cut Pro 7 • other Final Cut Pro 7 XML workflow tools Check the XtoCC Support document for instructions, including listings of what translates and what doesn't. Requirements: • Final Cut Pro version 10.0.1 or later • An application that imports Final Cut Pro XML (such as Final Cut Pro 7 or 6, Premiere Pro CC, After Effects CC, Audition CC, DaVinci Resolve, Color, etc.).
I’m working on a television show, primarily using Adobe’s creative cloud. Some of our footage from outside is put in an offline edit by other editors using FCPX though. I purchased FCP X to have it handy for times like this, but I had no way to get their work into Premiere Pro for my final edit.
They gave me their libraries, and now all I have to do is open it up in FCP X, select the events I want, and export an XML to use in Xto7. From there, I just convert it to a good ol’ fashioned FCP7 XML and import it directly for use in premiere (with the appropriate footage folder from the FCP X library). There have been a ton of updates recently in Xto7, and it has been working just fine.

The only quirk I’ve had to deal with is sometimes crossfades don’t port over just rightbut that’s an easy fix. Don’t expect for everything to be 100% perfect out of the box in every sequence, but it gives you a huge head start and will put everything where you need it on the timeline. It's a pretty basic tool. If you happen to have just the right type of media and timeline, you may get through the conversion with very little carnage. But I tried a project with a mix of 7 different formats. I put them all in the main storyline. No transitions.
And once I got it into FCP 7, the in and out points were all over the place. Some clips simply reset to the beginning of the media, instead of the designated in's and out's I'd set.
Some clips appeared way down the time line after 18 minutes of blank. I used a mix of file- and tape-based formats: RED (transcoded to 422), GoPro, 5D, 7D, NTSC-DV, Stills, Music. I did this test because that's the type of media included in the documentary I'm working on.
I think for the time being, this tool won't work for me. I expect it to improve though. It seems like they're constantly working on it.
I've tried version 1.1.2 every which way, and it doesn't work for me AT ALL. The previous update was so buggy the developer actually recommended you not download it. I am back to using a version from 2 updates ago, which sort of works for video, but leaves important information like speed changes completely out, which is to say nothing of Audio, which creates some sort of unholy mess, requiring me to resort to a multi-channel QT workaround for that. C'mon you guys. Quit making updates that don't work. Apple hasn't updated FCP X in months so there's no good excuse for this.
I'm glad it exists but I'm not glad I paid $50 with this inadequate support.
