  Mine hates me. I can\'t get the jetting right and I\'m stumped. It\'s a single carb, stock settings are pilot jet 47.5 main jet 120 needle 2nd clip main jet (under the diaphragm) 140 I\'ve put a pod filter on and can\'t get the jetting right. I\'m up to a 50 pilot a 130 main(in the float bowl) and a 160 main (under the diaphragm) messed with the air mix screw to no end. Float height is perfect too.

  Basically when I set it up rich it\'s still lean(according to my plug). No air leaks anywhere! Somebody help! From what i\'ve read/been told, the xs 650\'s need to have a few things done in order to really tune them right. 1 - make sure cam chain tension is correct 2 - make sure valves are adjusted 3 - set timing using a timing light 4 - once those are all in place, then you can fine tune the carbs. I rebuilt my stock ones 3 times and said screw it - bought some new mikuni 34 roundslides.

  Guess what - since i didnt do the first 3 things on the list, bike still runs like shit. Moral - do the correct steps b4 dropping cash or going crazy.

  I get too far ahead and rush and forget things. So i am going to try to do the 3 steps above then tune.
